Acccessibility Policy

In 2005, the Ontario government passed the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). This act, the first of its kind in Canada, established mandatory accessibility standards that apply to both private and public sector businesses and organizations. This includes community-based organizations and organizations with as few as one employee.

 

Shalom To The Nations International (STNI) is committed to providing environments where all individuals have an equal opportunity to fully utilize and access its services.

 

Standard practices at STNI in promoting services that are accessible to all include:

• Welcoming service dogs and encouraging individuals to utilize assistive devices (e.g., screen readers, listening devices, canes, wheelchairs);

 

• Maintaining wheelchair-accessible offices;

 

• Communicating with individuals in ways that meet their needs (e.g., verbally, by phone, or by email);

 

• Ensuring that publicly available information on the website and social media is provided in accessible formats and translated into Canada’s official languages wherever possible.
